Board Members

The members of the Board of CFPA meet regularly to discuss, review and report on their business and plans.

Douglas Russell

Douglas spent most of his career as a lawyer with a large Edinburgh based law firm specialising in dispute resolution.  He worked on many high value oil industry cases including the Piper Alpha disaster and the Kan Tan IV Chinese oil rig case.  Douglas is a trained mediator, with particular experience in commercial disputes. He has acted for Aberdeen Harbour Board, Forth Ports Authority and Lerwick Harbour Board.  Douglas has also engaged with the Scottish Parliament on a range of subjects.  He is an active farmer near Fearn and has strong links with the local community.  Currently he is Chair of Albyn Housing Society and a director of the farmers’ cooperative HBS Ring.
Richard Ballantyne 
Vice Chairman

Richard’s career has spanned the upstream oil & gas sector, including the marine / shipping sector internationally and in the UKCS.  His unique background covers all the major aspects of business within the oil & gas sector, including running an operating company and running sizeable profit and loss businesses, with annual revenue streams of up to £250million.  Complementing this operational experience, Richard has also held executive positions on the Board of two oil companies.
Bob Buskie
Chief Executive

Bob Buskie joined the Port after a career that spans both the oil and gas Operating and Service sectors.  His career includes ten years with Sun Oil Company; as Strategy and Business Development Director for Sparrows Group; Chief Executive Officer in Switzerland, for Omnisems SA; Group Board Director at RBG Ltd; Vice President EMEA for Stratos Global; and Managing Director of INVSAT, a wholly owned Inmarsat subsidiary.  Bob has strong links to the region, having been educated in Dornoch and Golspie.

Sandy Cumming CBE
Sandy's career has focussed on economic and community development of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, employed for almost four decades in various roles for the Highlands and Islands Development Board and Highlands and Islands Enterprise. He served as Chief Executive of Ross and Cromarty Enterprise, based in Invergordon for five years, followed by a period of over 9 years as Chief Executive of Highlands and Islands Enterprise. He joined the Board of the Cromarty Firth Port Authority in January 2012, and served as Chairman from January 2013 until December 2015. He is also a Vice Chair of Scotland's Rural College (SRUC), a Member of the Accounts Commission and a Trustee of the Robertson Trust.

Roger Eddie

Roger is a specialist Business Banker, with 35 years spent in the banking sector, predominantly in the Highlands and Islands, including Alness, Benbecula, Inverness and Wick.  Roger also worked as a Senior Development Manager with Highlands & Islands Enterprise.  He is a Director of Springfield Properties PLC and an Adviser to the Springfield Real Estate Investment Fund. 


Donald MacKenzie

Donald worked as Managing Director of Abermed Medics Ltd, a medical services company, providing medical staff to remote sites, primarily in the oil and gas industry. Donald was a Director of the company from 2006 to 2012. Prior to this, Donald was International HR Manager for Tidewater Marine for 5 years, and has 15 years of experience in the offshore shipping sector. Donald, who grew up in the Highlands and has strong links to the area, trained as a Chartered Accountant. He maintains a keen interest in the marine sector, as well as the occupational health and wellbeing of employees and employers. 

Angus McMaster
Angus is a trained Accountant and a member of the Institute for Chartered Accountants of Scotland.  He has been a partner with Frame Kennedy for over 20 years, where he specialises in tax and business advice.  Angus is a Non-Executive Financial Director with the Loch Ness Coffee company, where he advises and oversees all financial aspects of the organisation.  He is also a non executive director of Albyn Housing Society This blend of experience makes Angus well suited to advise the Port Board on business objective, opportunities and challenges.

Alan Cook
Alan brings to the Board extensive ship and shore based management expertise.  He has been a Master Mariner, predominantly in the North Sea and Europe, with an array of experience, which includes tankers, supply vessels, passenger ferries, tugs and coasters.  Alan has previously been Deputy Harbour master and Pilot for Scrabster Harbour, Berthing Master for oil tankers at Flotta terminal and Marine Superintendent at Nigg Oil Terminal, responsible for the management of all its shipping operations.  Alan is presently the Marine Superintendent at Finnart oil terminal.
